Here's the Best Skincare Routine for Your Skin Type

Here's the Best Skincare Routine for Your Skin Type

Skin comes in a variety of different shades and textures, from clear to freckled, so it's little wonder that not everyone has the same skin type. Over the years, dermatologists have divided these different types of skin into five categories: normal, dry, oily, sensitive, or combination.

Each skin type has its own unique set of struggles. Due to this, the skincare routine for each skin type varies slightly. If diligent washing and moisturizing have been doing little to improve the health of your skin, you may have chosen the wrong regime for your skin type.

Normal

Not to be mistaken for "normal" as in "common," this skin type is fortunate enough to not lean toward any extremes. Its neither particularly oily, dry, or sensitive, so taking care of it is just a matter of maintenance.

Wash: Morning and night with a gentle cleanser.

Tone: Morning and night. We recommend the purely natural Tidal Rose toner from Earth Harbor.

Moisturize: Immediately apply moisturizer or a hydrating product after cleansing to present your skin from dehydrating. We recommend the Earth Harbor’s natural SIREN SILK Multi-Tasking Hydration Creme and AQUA AURA Reparative Eye Creme

Using Paulownia Facial Wipes: We recommend using these combinations make up remover, cleanser, toner, and hydrating wipes twice a day! You can skip using an additional toner product and, depending on how your skin feels, may be able to skip a moisturizer. Make sure to still put on SPF, though!

Dry

People with dry skin will often complain of foundation creasing or looking patchy through-out the day. Liquid or cream products tend to perform better on their skin since they provide an extra boost of hydration.

Wash: Morning and night with a gentle cleanser. If tightness/dryness increases, go down to cleansing once at night.

Tone: Once at night. We recommend the natural Sea Vitamin Boost toner by Osea.

Moisturize: Morning and night, immediately after cleansing when applicable. We recommend the Ultra Hydrating Face Cream in Argan & Pomegranate by Nourish Organic and the Eye Cream by Pangea Organics.

Using Paulownia Facial Wipes: Since these wipes are made with natural ingredients without the use of alcohol, which can further dry out the skin, they’re perfect for dry skin types. Use these wipes once at night to combine your toner and cleansing routine into one!

Oily

When the sebaceous gland in the skin makes too much sebum (the oily substance that keeps skin protected and hydrated) the result is oily skin. Due to this excess oil, there’s often a shiny appearance to the skin and it usually responds better to powder foundation.

Wash: Morning and night with a gentle cleanser. Avoid overwashing your skin, as this will increase the excess sebum production!
Tone: Morning and night. We recommend the Bulgarian Rose Water spray from Alteya Organics.
Moisturize: Morning and night (don’t skip this step, as it will help balance out your sebum production!) We recommend the natural Skin Savior multi-tasking wonder balm by One Love Organics and the natural Coffe Bean Caffeine Eye Cream by 100% Pure.

Using Paulownia Facial Wipes: Gentle and hydrating, these Plowipes can be used twice as a day without stripping your skin and causing a further imbalance of sebum production.

Sensitive

Many cosmetic products contact chemicals such as alcohol. Some skin types are more sensitive than others, however, and can become easily

Wash: Once at night.

Tone: Morning and night with a gentle cleanser. If irritation or dryness occurs, go down to once at night. We recommend the natural Neroli Toning Mist by Annmarie.

Moisturize: Immediately apply moisturizer or a hydrating product after cleansing to present your skin from dehydrating. We recommend the all-natural Moisture Riser Cream by Noto and the Bella Rose I-Renew Eye Cream by Rosemira Organics.
Using Paulownia Facial Wipes: Since Paulownia Facial Wipes uses all-natural ingredients without common chemicals like fragrance, chlorine treatment, or lanolin, it’s perfect for sensitive skin. We recommend using this product twice a day in the morning and night for gentle but effective cleansing.

Combination

Wash: Morning and night with a gentle cleanser. If tightness/dryness increases, go down to cleansing once at night.

Tone: Morning and night with a gentle cleanser. If irritation or dryness occurs, go down to once at night. We recommend the Organic Facial Toner by Christina Moss Naturals.

Moisturize: Immediately apply moisturizer or a hydrating product after cleansing to present your skin from dehydrating. We recommend the organic Antioxidant Moisturizer by Juice Beauty and Eyebright by Follain.
Using Paulownia Facial Wipes: Since Paulownia Facial Wipes is both gentle enough for sensitive skin and hydrating for dry or oily skin, it’s an ideal cleanser for combination skin. Begin using these wipes twice a day and adjust according to your skin’s response!
